Nottinghamshire Fire Service - Control Room AV Installation
Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service HQ is based at Bestwood Lodge Drive in Arnold Nottingham. It is a regional headquarters and also houses the services control room which answers emergency calls from across the country.

PROJECT
NAV were approached by the Fire Service with the request to design and install a bespoke system to enable more realistic training for their Incident Commanders. Currently they were training on portable AV equipment and had a location on site which was to be re-furbished especially for the XVR training system. They have in total 6 rooms 4 of which are used for XVR simulation 1 control room and 1 office area.
The XVR software is specialised training software allowing the service to design realistic environments and incidents to match their locale. The Service required NAV to provide a more immersive experience for their incident commanders starting with a projection wall allowing more realistic sized avatars. Optoma HD Ultra Short throw projectors were specified to prevent shadows caused by the candidate with as large an area of wall coverage as possible within reason of the projector specification. Training sessions would also be required to be recorded for review by the candidate to evaluate their own performance.
Control of the AV system is accomplished using an AMX system with 2x 10” AMX touchpanels and a single 9.6” Android Tablet. Any of these devices has the ability to control the blackmagic video recorders, Intercom capability between all 4 rooms, assignation of instructor microphone headset (1 of 4) to any or all rooms, matrix switching of video feeds to any projector/monitor. The headsets are operated via a foot switch combined with a confidence light strip so that the instructor is aware a mic is live.
